BY-GEN FX-Pixelate Style

The Pixelate style will hide certain faces from the original mesh and create smoothed edges between the perforations.

The faces that are chosen to be hidden are controlled by the Build modifier, so upon adding the style, you should go to the Build modifier, set randomize to true, and increase the 'start' value until you find a suitable result.

Tips and Tricks

Examples are applied to a cube, subdivided by 3 levels.

Increased Subdivisions

  • Increasing the number of subdivision levels before the modifiers that construct the faceting effect will increase the number of holes that are created in the original surface of the mesh.

Shell Thickness

  • Adjusting the thickness value of the Solidify modifier will alter the width of the surface created from the original mesh.
